best cover of “i’m yours” EVER.

10 12 2009

oh man, if this doesn’t make you laugh until you cry, then you’re joyless. and that’s a shame. jason mraz’ i’m yours has never before been performed with so much incomprehensible gusto. if i were 4ish years old again, i’d throw my strawberry shortcake panties at this kid. boy, that was inappropriate.

yep. everything is all better now. you’re welcome :)

charlyne yi is dweeberiffic.

5 08 2009

saw this just a few moments ago. so post-worthy. charlyne yi is the epitome of weird, awkward, geektastic…and totally cute and charming. i’m saddened by her recent split from actor, michael cera (also swoonable), but still can’t wait to catch the pseudo-documentary, Paper Heart, starring the two geekballs.

Paper Heart is in select theatres this Friday.

denzel and will? at the same time?!

11 06 2009

my closest friends know that i have this thing for black actors (particularly of the handsome superstar variety), so imagine my glee upon hearing that denzel washington and will smith might possibly star in the same movie together…for the first time ever! it sounds like the project is supposed to be on the low low, but in a recent interview, denzel spilled the beans that will smith is working on some kind of “comedy” for the two of them to star in together. i admit, this does have the potential to be not-so-good, but who can deny that denzel, one of hollywood’s most respected actors + will, tinseltown’s biggest box office draw = blockbuster. muhammad ali and malcolm x would be proud. okay, probably not. but I’M excited. check out the interview below.

p.s. gen, can you confirm this info with your super magical powers? thanks!

Paper Heart Trailer

29 04 2009

Michael Cera (swoon) x Charlyne Yi (the dweeby asian girl in knocked up) x Geekball Romance = A must see.

A romantic pseudo-documentary written, produced by, and starring Charlyne Yi (23), who by the way is Michael Cera’s (21) real-life girlfriend. The film follows Charlyne’s quest for love’s meaning, while her real relationship with Michael Cera buds/blooms/blossoms. They’ve got to be the quirkiest couple in the biz. I don’t care what the fangirls say, I dig it.

flutter: the new twitter

8 04 2009

looks like i’ve missed the twitter bus all together, but i still might be able to jump on the new craze: Flutter! Slate V’s mockumentary on this new ‘nano-blogging’ application jabs at Twitter-Mania, while suggesting that 140 characters to let people know what we’re doing is entirely superfluous. dryly satirical. i love it.

no offense to the elite members of the Twitterati that i call my friends. and no offense to vowels, either. wrd.

why i heart ellen

19 03 2009

1. she is the epitome of geek-chic: quirky, boyish, girlish, sharp, witty, fashionable, dance-y, fun-loving, and down for her cause.

2. she knows her power. by interviewing her own wife, Portia de Rossi, on her top-ranked daytime television show, in a state that fails to recognize their marriage, ellen not only injects normalcy into her union for the unsuspecting (and suspecting) viewer, but also subversively says, “f*ck you” to the establishment…all in her shrug-and-smile, feel-good way.

3. she and portia play a newlywed game, tapping into my own geekball fantasies. let me explain. every time i discover a new quirk about jaymar, or confirm an “only-i-know-this-about-him” fact, i file these details away in my brain under “things to remember if i’m ever on a dating game show.” then, i daydream about how many answers i’d get right…and what prizes we’d win. shut up.

4. portia de rossi is hot. but i’m totally gay for ellen. swoon.

watch these videos. they’ll make you happy. you’ll see.

happy friday!

6 02 2009

you’re probably one of the 4 million people who have already viewed this video, but its so awesome, i had to post it. funny thing is, i think i feel like David on most days. enjoy!

(thanks, matt!)

reality tv at its finest!

29 09 2008

There’s something terribly wrong (and too funny) when a news network reports on an SNL parody that simply involves repeating word-for-word what Sarah Palin says. Who needs comedy when reality is so entertaining?!
